Alisha Hickinbottom Obituary

Alisha Tiarra Hickinbottom was born September 30, 1995 to Ray Hickinbottom and Tanice (Price) Upshaw in Oxford, MS. 

She was a member of Apostolic Sanctuary of Praise and a member under Watch Care at Greater Bethlehem Temple in Jackson MS. She loved working in the church and was an assistant Praise Dance teacher and assisted with the After School Program.

Alisha attended Lafayette High School and graduated with the class of 2014.  While in high school, she was a member of the ROTC, and member of the track team, band, flag team and participated in numerous other school activities. After graduation, she transition into the United States Army Reserve as a Private First Class officer. Alisha attended Holmes Community College where she received an Associated of Arts Degree and was currently a senior at Jackson State University where she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success.  She was currently employed as a teacher's assistant in Jackson Public School System.

Alisha could light up a room with her big beautiful smile and bubbly personality. She enjoyed going to church, singing gospel songs, traveling, shopping, being around people, praise dancing, she loved children and had a passion for being an educator and she loved to bake. She was a Transfer Ambassador at Jackson State University and she founder of Created for a Purpose Ministry (C4P). 

Alisha passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Oxford MS.

She leaves to cherish her memories; Her mother: Tanice (Ira) Upshaw of Oxford MS; her father: Ray Hickinbottom of Oxford, MS;  her grandfather: Eugene (Roberye) Price of Chicago, IL;   grandmothers: Valerie (Dennis) Moore of Richton Park, IL and Rev. Annie Hickinbottom of Taylor, MS; six sisters, Latoia Payton of Chalmett, LA, Wendy Long, Peaches Rochelle Austin, Chrystal Benson, Ebony Upshaw and Ivorie Upshaw all of Oxford, MS; Godmother: Bridget Seaton; God sister: Shakerri Johnson of Oxford, MS.

Preceded in death by her grandmother, Elnora Price; Grandfather: Rev. Ray Hickinbottom; uncles: Robert and Isaac Price, Ira T. Hickinbottom and an aunt: Sarah Alexander and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
