Michael Lee Carothers, son of the late Ollie and Gloria Taylor Carothers, was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on March 21, 1973. "Pig," as he was affectionately known grew up in Oxford and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Oxford MS. He attended Oxford High School and was employed with Grantham Construction Company as a carpenter.
"Pig" loved football and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was passionate about being with his children and hanging out with family. "Pig" was suddenly called home to rest from his labor, on Thursday, August 15, 2019, while in his home.
He will be loving remembered by his children: Antrawn J. Faulkner of Southaven MS, Braden Hanley of Alma MI, Myka L. Carothers of Oxford MS and Nikki Walker of Chicago IL; five brothers: Ronnie Carothers, Bobby Carothers, David Carothers, Arthur Carothers all of Oxford MS and Ollie Carothers of Baton Rogue LA; and one sister: Coretta Carothers of Oxford MS; and a very close friend, Lewis Wadley. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Gloria Carothers and two sisters: Teresa Carothers and Rita Vaughn.
