Rev. Eddie D. Brown

Rev. Eddie David Brown, formally of Oxford and the 10th child born to Rev. Harris and Lula Otis Brown, was born August 2, 1945 in Columbia, Mississippi. Eddie confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Hope United Methodist Church in Columbia. He received his formal education at Marion Central High School, graduating in 1965. He went on to further his education at Prentiss Jr. College in Prentiss MS where he received an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree from Rust College in Holly Springs MS.

On July 9, 1967, Eddie was united in matrimony to Mary Ann Casey and they were the proud parents of four loving children, Mary Ann preceded him in death in August 2012. Eddie accepted his call to the ministry at the age of 22 and was given his first appointed to United Methodist Conference in 1970. He served faithfully as a shepherd, teacher and ordained minister never getting tired or weary. He was appointed to the Abbeville Charge in 1976 and served the Lafayette county area (Buford Chapel UM Church. West St. Peter UM Church, and Providence United Methodist Church) until 1987. He made two mission trip to Jamaica, was the Chairman of the Brookhaven District, Conference Board Ministry and Brookhaven District Board. He loved to fish, hunt and preach. Rev. Brown retired in 2011 only to return to what he had been called and ordained to do, preach the gospel. In 2014, he married Regena Lucas.

Rev. Brown said, "Everybody is God's Somebody." After being diagnosed with cancer in August, 2017, he acknowledged that his journey has been a rewarding one, and that God has never left his side. And when He call him, he would be ready.

On Friday morning, May 17, 2019, while in his home with his loving family by his side, he peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
