Robert Clayton Hickinbottom, son of George Nolan Hickinbottom and Rosie Lee Quarles, was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi, on April 28. 1963.
He accepted Christ at his personal savior at an early age and joined West St. Peter United Methodist Church. Robert received his early education in the Lafayette County School District.
Robert was united in matrimony to Melvinia Phillips and spent many years working in Oxford. He was employed with Baptist Memorial Hospital as a custodian. He loved all genres of music and had a special appreciation for antique cars.
The Lord God giveth. The Lord God taketh away. Bless be the name of the Lord. On Monday, January 6, 2020, while in his home in Jackson, Mississippi, the Lord God claimed his own. Robert went peacefully to sleep.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother: Johnny Hickinbottom (Nykia) of Oxford MS; his aunt and care giver: Linda Miner of Jackson MS; his uncle: Mack Arthur Quarles of Oxford MS; his wife: Melvinia Phillips of Oxford MS; and a devoted friend and father figure, Sylvester Williams of Jackson MS; he also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George Hickinbottom and Rosie Quarles; and two brothers: Mack Arthur Hickinbottom and George Lee Hickinbottom.
