Elder Shirley Glenn "Chuck" Blackmon, son of the late Emma Mae Blackmon-Johnson and L. V. Murphy was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on December 10, 1950. "Chuck," as he was affectionately known was an Elder serving and pastoring at Resurrection House of Prayer Church in Oxford MS and a bus driver for the Oxford School district.
"Chuck" married the love of his life, his sweetheart, Alice Price in 1967. They were married 52 years and he still called her his sweetheart. He received his education in the Lafayette county schools after which he and his sweetheart moved to Chicago after their marriage. It was there that he received his calling into the ministry. After returning to Oxford in 1992, together they founded the Resurrection House of Prayer, which they began in their home before building the present day structure.
Chuck loved to fish, bowl and work in the yard. He made his transition from the world on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2019, with his sweetheart by his side.
He is loving remembered by his sweetheart: Pastor Alice Blackmon; two daughters: Vasethertie Campbell and Delois (Richard) McEwen, both of Oxford MS; six grand children; three brothers: Frankie Johnson of Oxford MS, Bobby Johnson (Carrin) of Meridian ID, and Randy Johnson (Katie) of Atlanta GA; three sisters: Rev. Bettye Clifton of Pontotoc MS, Tressie Johnson of Oxford MS and Charlotte Glenn (DaShawn) of Clinton MD.; Seven children in the Lord: Deniece, teanna, Stephanie, Antonette, Janay, Joyce, and Felicia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
