Mr. Albert Willie Joiner, Sr., affectionately known as "Pop," was born in Panola County, on April 3, 1947 to the late Walter and Ruby Hines Joiner. He was raised by his loving grandfather, Jesse James Hines. Albert accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of East Batesville Church of God and Christ. He received his early education in the Panola County Schools (Patton Lane) before moving to Lafayette County, MS.
Albert loved life. He loved singing and he loved the time he spent singing and playing guitar with the Redmond Brothers. He was employed with Oliphant Paint Company of Oxford MS, Malone and Hyde Trucking in Memphis, TN and retired from Harvey International Trucking in Memphis, TN where he was a truck driver.
Albert "Pop" was a happy, fun loving man. He loved his family. singing and the guitar. He often said after his tour with the Redmond Brothers that he transitioned from the Redmond Brother to a "One Man Band." But on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, while at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus MS, "Pop" transitioned from his "One Man Band" to a "Heavenly Choir."
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Brigelle Joiner, Albert Joiner, Jr. Oxford MS and Shondra Carter, TX; and Alicia Joiner of Clarksdale MS; grandchildren: Chasity Joiner, Anthony Johnson, Jr., Ashanti Joiner, Demetrious Richmond, Martavious Richmond, Dzahnt and DeShawn Tolbert, Suave and Chakiria Chatmon, and Deairus Brown; four great grandchildren: Aiden Suggs, Anterian Romone Johnson, John Pritchard, and Martavious Richmond, Jr.; three brothers: Walter E. Joiner and Jasper Joiner of Oxford MS and Walter James Joiner of Greenwood MS; He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of other relatives and friends.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, and grandfather Jesse, along with two children Gloria Goliday and Jimmy Wayne Tolbert; three sisters: Oceal Joiner Vaughn, Pearlie Joiner and Ollie Mae Joiner.
