Mr. Alvin Byers was born on February 25, 1960 in Waterford, Mississippi to Annie Lee (Byers) Young.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Hamilton Chapel CME Church where he sang in the choir during his youth.
He was educated in the Marshall County School system attending Galena Elementary and Byhalia High School. He later attended the Mississippi Job Corps program in Batesville, MS where he studied carpentry. As time progressed, Alvin became a construction worker helping to build bridges and roads throughout Mississippi.
Alvin joined the United States Marine Corps August 13, 1984 and served until August 12, 1986.
Alvin married Debbie Smith on October 9, 1987 and together they were blessed with two sons.
In his spare time, Alvin enjoyed fishing, fishing, fishing and occasionally hunting and watching sports.
Alvin loved a good debate and always wanted to win. He maintained a good sense of humor and a positive outlook on life until his time of death.
Alvin passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 in his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife Debbie (Smith) Byers, Mother Annie Lee (Byers) Young, and sister, Vera (Byers) Waldon.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memories; two sons: Alex Byers and Brian Smith of Abbeville, MS; two grandchildren: Rahlayah Malone and Emri Smith of Abbeville, MS; one sister: Robin Jeffries of Waterford, MS; one brother: Mark (Carolyn) Byers of Nolensville, TN; two sisters in-law: Shelia Wooten and Candy Smith of Abbeville, MS; stepfather: Joe Willie Young of Abbeville, MS; one step-brother: Donnie (Verrette) Young of FL; five step-sisters: Gloria Stokes, Linda Young, Faye Young, and Floretta Clark of Oxford MS, and Denaris Berry of Jackson, TN; and a host of loving aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
