Alvis Overton ("Pookie") McJunkins, Jr.

Alvis Overton McJunkins, Jr. was born to the union of Ardelia and Alvis Overton McJunkins, Sr. on August 11, 1951. Alvis Jr. "Pookie" as he was better known was reared in a Christian home. He accepted Christ Jesus at a early age and be a member of Bethlehem Church in Etta, Mississippi.

"Pookie" attended school in the Oxford School district and was a member of the class of 1971. Later in life, he united in marriage to Brenda, his devoted wife. God blessed this union with four children, three sons and one daughter. "Pookie" in time past, fathered another son and also he inherited a bonus son as well.

"Pookie" loved his children and you better believe that he loved him some Brenda Faye!  "Pookie" worked at Larson Big Star, Georgia Pacific, and for Bramlett Dry Wall Company until his health failed.  After retiring from working, you could find him daily, under the carport hanging out with the Wilson Road Crew.

"Pookie" departed from his love ones on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Miss in Oxford, MS. He truly will be missed by all his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are: Brenda Faye McJunkins, the wife of his youth; his sons: Jemaine McJunkins, Memphis, TN, ShaLamar (Ternicia) McJunkins, Water Valley, MS; Alvis Adonis McJunkins, Oxford, MS, and Elvin Miller, Como, MS; one daughter: Whitley McJunkins, Oxford, MS; and a bonus son: Telvin Miller, Como, MS; sister: Trudy (William) Young, Abbeville, MS; brothers: Charles (Alice) McJunkins and Randal (Latasha) McJunkins, both of Oxford, MS; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Jessie McJunkins and Vivian McJunkins; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other family and friends.

"Pookie" is preceded in death by his parents: Alvis and Ardelia McJunkins; sister: Elmetria Delaise McJunkins; three brothers: Elwyn Dewayne McJunkins, Sheldry Leonard McJunkins and Dana Wendell McJunkins and one sister-in-law: Della McJunkins.
