Ameena Shabbazz (Gordon) Dennis

April 23, 1971 ~ May 25, 2021 (age 50)

Ameena Shabbaz Gordon was born April 23, 1971 to Mary Sue and the late John Gordon, Jr. in Lafayette County, MS.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ, was baptized, and became a member of East Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She later fellowshipped with Jeffrie Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her death.

Ameena received her education from Oxford City Schools and graduated in 1989. She continued her educational journey by attending and graduating from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts concentrating in Biological Science. As with all that she done, Ameena excelled in college earning an Image Scholar Award.

Ameena was united in matrimony to Johnny “Pean” Dennis, Sr. and to this union three children were born.

Utilizing her degree, she gained employment with State of Mississippi as an Environmentalist. She absolutely loved her job, was good at it, and remained there until her untimely death.

When she was not traveling for work, Ameena was always on the road supporting her boys in their many extracurricular activities. She had expensive taste and loved shopping, entertaining, and was known for her “June” party, which brought the entire family together. She was such a great mom, daughter, sister, and friend with a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. She would not let you be sad around her. She was such a warrior and would take on any task given to her.

In March 2021, Ameena began the fight of her life and fought until the very end. On Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi, she traded her earthly life for eternal life with the Lord. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
