Andrew J. “Tank” Frierson was born on October 12, 1948, to Bennie Frierson and Levora Polk Frierson in Oxford MS. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his until his passing.
Tank was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1966. He attended Northwest Mississippi Community College and The University of Mississippi. He was later employed by and retired from The University of Mississippi in 2016.
In September 1987, Tank was united in holy matrimony to Wilma Orange, and two children were born to that union. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and mentor to many.
Tank enjoyed fishing, watching sports, playing Biz Wiz with his friends, and answering questions on Jeopardy. He had a great sense of humor, an easy-going demeanor with a laugh that was contagious, but was firm when necessary. When he spoke, everyone listened.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, Tank went to his eternal home to be with the Lord. The memory of him will forever remain in the lives of his wife of 32 years, Wilma Frierson of Oxford, MS; three children, Andrea (Terance) Booker of Snellville, GA, Jacelyn Frierson of Oxford, MS, and Jeremy Orange of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Selah Grace Booker of Snellville, GA; three sisters, Bennie Jean Frierson, Stella (Sherman) Buford, and Vickie Frierson (John) Adams all of Oxford, MS, as well as five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
