Annie Stewart Obituary

Annie Lou Stewart, affectionately known as "Ann," was born on April 21, 1952, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late Charlie "Bill" Williams and Ollie Vester Williams. She was the eleventh child and youngest daughter among fifteen siblings. Annie grew up in a home filled with love, resilience, and unwavering faith.

From a young age, Annie embodied strength and determination. She instilled in her children ~ Katena, Steven and Felicla ~ the belief that "can't" was not a word in their vocabulary. Her encouragement and example taught them that with faith and perseverance, anything was possible. At just 12 years old, Annie accepted Christ as her Savior and became a devoted member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford. Her spiritual journey was a guiding light throughout her Iife, shaping her generous spirit and compassionate heart.

Annie received her education through the Oxford City School, laying the foundation for a life marked by wisdom, grace, and quiet strength. In 1981, she began her career at Georgia Pacific, where she was honored with the 20 years of Outstanding Service Award in 2001. She continued her dedicated work until her retirement in 2006.

Annie found joy in life's simple pleasures, working in her yard, playing spades, cooking for loved ones, sitting on her porch, fishing, serving in church, and the occasional trip to the casino. Her warmth and laughter filled every room she entered. On Sunday, July 13, 2025, while in her home surrounded by her loving family, Annie was ushered into a new room, a room upstairs in her new mansion.

Annie leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. She is survived by her children: Katena Jones, Steven (Tasha) Wilkins and Felicia Wilkins all of Oxford, MS; Two special nieces: Annie Coleman and Denise Williams both of Oxford, MS; her siblings; Ora Patten, Jessie (Brenda) Williams of Oxford, MS, Alvin (Deborah) Williams of Norfolk, VA, Floyd (Shirley) Williams of Manassas, VA, James E. Williams of Sacramento, CA, Jessie Williams and Charlie Williams both of Memphis, TN; She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and cherished friends.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Lillie Bonds and Dorothy Wells, and seven brothers: MC Williams, Charles Williams, Selma Williams, Sam Williams, Joe L. Williams, Thomas E. Williams and Willie Williams. Annie's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her life was a testament of faith, family and fortitude. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
