Bernard Vaughn, son of Dall Vaughn and the late Lillie Mae “Ceil” Pegues, was born February 16, 1975 in Oxford, MS. He accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at East Saint Peter M.B. Church.
“Nardy,” as he was affectionately called or “Sweet Body Nardy,” as he often referred to himself, received his education from Oxford city schools and graduated in OHS’s class of 1993. In high school, he was a member of the Oxford Chargers’ football team. After high school, Nardy attended Northwest Mississippi Community College.
He was employed as a rigger/driver for Warrior Crane Construction Company. When he wasn’t on the road working, he found solace in being at home. In his spare time, Nardy enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, they could always put a smile on his face. He also liked to watch the Washington Redskins play.
On Monday, January 17, 2022, Bernard passed away in Odessa, TX while away at work. His infectious smile and warm spirit will be missed by those who loved him most. Wilson, Ada Vaughn, Martha Burford, Mary Vaughn, Rita Phillips, and Elizabeth Sanders all of Oxford, MS; great uncle, Eddie L. Key of Oxford, MS; close friends, Cliff Graves of Nashville, TN and Rodney Miller of Jackson, MS; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Bernard was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Pegues; uncle, Ike Vaughn; and aunt, Joyce Ann Mosby.
