Bertha L. Garrison Caraway was born January 15, 1953 to the late Jimmie C. and Esteller Foster Garrison in Tunica, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age at Harrisonville M.B. Church and remained there until her health failed.
Bertha attended Taylor & Central High Schools. She worked for Crystal Springs School district for many years and later retired from the University of Mississippi. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, Bertha enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, watching westerns and Bruce Lee movies, helping others, and cooking.
She was united in marriage to Garry L. Caraway and together, they had six children.
After a battle with cancer, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, while at home, surrounded by family and friends- she transitioned peacefully into an eternal sleep.
To cherish her memories, her love will forever be in the hearts of her husband, Garry L. Caraway of Oxford, MS; children, Mary (Marcus) Grayer of Jackson, MS, Christopher (Marlo) Garrison of Nashville, TN, Mario Lane of Toledo, OH, Henry Johnson of Holly Springs, MS, Danielle Caraway and Gary Caraway both of Magee, MS; two sisters, Stella (Archie) Williams of Greenwood, MS and Gearldine (Kenneth) Campbell of Oxford, MS; three brothers, Ralph Garrison of Holly Springs, MS, Robert Garrison of Oxford, MS, and Jimmie (Vanessa) Garrison of Atlanta, TX; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 7 sisters in law, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers who died at birth.
