Bettie McGuirt Obituary

Bettie Mae Hudson was born April 25, 1965 to the late Robbie Jean Owens and Jimmie Phillips in Oxford, MS.

Bettie professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at East St. Peter M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. At East St. Peter, Bettie was a member of the Usher Board and Adult Choir.

Bettie received her education from Oxford city schools and was graduate of OHS’s class of 1983. Bettie furthered education and received an associate’s degree in Cosmetology.  In July of 1992, Bettie was united in matrimony to Tracy McGuirt.

She was such a fun person who loved life and taking care of and helping others. These traits aided her in receiving her certification to be a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She gained employment with Graceland Nursing and remained there until her mother’s health failed.

In her spare time, she enjoyed doing hair, cooking, and being with family and friends. Her three grandchildren were the apples of her eyes.

On Friday, September 3, 2021, at the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS, Bettie traded her earthly life for eternal life with the Lord. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Terrell Hudson (Sheri Zinn) and Keydarius McGuirt (Keria Alexander) both of Oxford, MS; three grandchildren, Chase and Jordan Hudson and Kalei McGuirt all of Oxford, MS ; father, Jimmie Phillips of Indianapolis; two sisters, Denese (Sylvester) Westbrook of Oxford, MS and Tina (Isaiah) McNairy of Memphis, TN; special friend, Ethen Hardwell of Oxford, MS, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy McGuirt and mother.
