After retiring, she started a tutoring service, assisting families in her community. Carolyn was a member of East St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed traveling extensively and embarking on numerous trips with her daughter and grandchildren. She also found joy in gardening, reading and studying the Bible.

Carolyn's educational journey began at Johnson and Peterson Elementary School and continued at Central High School in Oxford, MS. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1970.
