Charlie Vernon Rogers

Mr. Charlie Rogers, 86, of Water Valley, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie Vernon Rogers, son of the late Vernon and Viola Morgan Rogers, was born in Yalabusha County MS, on April , 1933. 

He accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Oak Grove CME Church in Water Valley MS.  He was the widower of the late Jeanette Rogers. 

Mr. Rogers received his education in the Yalabusha County School district and was employed a a custodian for Kellwood Sewing Plant. After retirement, he worked with the Meals on Wheels food program. 

Mr. Rogers loved church and could often be heard singing and praising the Lord. Some of his other enjoyments were spending time with his grandchildren and gardening.

On Monday evening, February 3, 2020, in a room filled with love and surrounded by his loving family, Mr. Rogers went home to be with the Lord. And he was also reunited with his wife, Jeanette.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Vernon Rogers, Tommy Rogers, Kenneth Rogers, Martha Telford, Janet Telford, and Donna Blake all of Water Valley, MS, and Charles Rogers of Jackson MS; his brother: Lucius Rogers of Memphis TN; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Three grandchildren he raised in his home: Jacqueline Rogers and Vernon D. Rogers both of Water Valley and Christina Rogers. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Along with his wife and parents, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by a son: Danny Rogers; a grandson: Rodrick McLeod, Jr.; and siblings: Sherman Rogers, John Eddie Rogers, Jewel Rogers and Willie B. Rogers.
