Chester Lee McGee was born June 7, 1955, in Water Valley, Mississippi to the late Ossie S. McGee (Martin) and Eddie L. McGee.
He professed his belief in Christ at an early age and had an unwavering faith in God. He devotedly served as an usher at his home church, North Hopewell M.B. Church.
Chester graduated from Lafayette High School in 1974. Afterward, he attended Ole Miss majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. He worked at Parker-Hannifin Corporation as a supervisor until he retired.
Chester was charismatic and highly intellectual. He could converse for hours about any subject. He loved to spread positivity and share God’s word with others. He had an unmatched sense of humor and zeal for life. Chester was fond of learning new things, fishing, working on cars, and serving those in need.
On Saturday, July 30, 2022, Chester passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Nicole Johnson of Zion, IL, Carla Russ of Wylie, TX, and Chadwick Moore (Olivia) of Coffeeville, MS; grandchildren, Kayla Hamilton, Jacob Russ both of Wylie, TX, Egypt Prillerman of Oxford, MS, Marcus Rogers of Racine, WI, Breeona Rogers of Round Lake Beach, IL, Jacques (Shanice) Rogers of AL, Tyra Rogers of North Chicago, IL, Taniaah Johnson of Zion, IL, and Miracle Johnson of Kenosha, WI; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Willie (Regina) McGee of Taylor, MS, Mary (Miller) Backstrom of Joliet, IL, Flora B. Bland of Water Valley, Daisy Walton both of Water Valley, MS, Osceola (Paul) Knight of Joliet, IL, Loretta Betts of Stafford, TX, Diane McGee of Houston, TX, and Luvenia (Howard) Phillips of Taylor, MS; maternal aunts, Annie Curtis of Memphis, TN, Maudie Rockette of Water Valley, MS, and Roberta Johnson of Taylor, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and the North Hopewell M.B. Church Family.
Preceding him in death are his parents: Ossie S. McGee and Eddie L. McGee and brothers: Edward McGee, Tommy McGee, and James McGee.
