Clara Bell Payton-Corothers Price, the fifth of eight children, was born March 17, 1961, to the late Lee and Sarah (Harwell) Payton.
She was a faithful member of Tobby Tubby Missionary Baptist Church until her untimely death.
Clara was united in marriage to the late Robert Corothers (Big Mack) for more than 40 years. To this union one child, Clarissa Chanta, and one granddaughter, LaKendra, were born. “Kendra or Ken,” as C.B. would often call her, was the love of her life. After the death of Robert, Clara later united in marriage to Jeffery Price.
“C.B.,” as she was affectionately called, had a passion for flowers, animals – especially her fur babies, Katrina and Damien, and lizard, Rikki, gardening, and gospel music. She was a giving person and loved to help people. During her early life, she pursued her dream to establish a home for disadvantaged women. Even though this did not come to fruition, she continued working to help others who were less fortunate.
She was employed at North Mississippi Regional Center for approximately five years and later did landscaping work until she began to have health issues.
On her birthday, March 17, 2023, Clara completed her circle of life at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS, surrounded by her loving husband, granddaughter, and other family.
C.B. leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jeffery Price and granddaughter, LaKendra Corothers, both of Oxford, MS and who both remained by her side until her passing; bonus children, De’Trecia Corothers of Ocala, FL, Chastity Jones of Oxford, MS, and Chanitra Price of Augusta, GA; sisters, Elizabeth Ann (Rick) Norphlet, Samantha Ann (Ray) Richardson both of Oxford, MS; brothers, Lee Wesley (Rosie) Payton, Sr. of Brandon, MS and Johnny Burt Payton of Oxford, MS; aunts, Iva Dell Harwell Washington, Willie Mae Harwell (Johnny Goolsby), Dorothy Harwell (Uncle Jr.) Ivy, Lizzie Harwell all of Oxford, MS; uncles, Connie L.
