Clarissa Chanta Corothers, daughter of Robert “Big Mac” and Clara “C.B” Corothers, was born February 14, 1983 in Oxford, MS.
“Rissa,” as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Harrisonville M.B. Church. She later moved her membership to Tobby Tubby M.B. Church.
She received her education from both Lafayette County and Oxford City Schools. After high school, Clarissa studied Criminal Law at Northwest Mississippi Community College. She became a Communications Specialist volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol, the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, and this was something that she definitely took pride in doing.
Clarissa enjoyed playing cards, watching horror movies, listening to blues and other old school music, going out to eat, fishing, and spending time with her dog, Katrina.
On Sunday, August 8, 2021, Clarissa passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford, MS.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, LaKendra Corothers of Oxford, MS; mother, Clara Corothers of Oxford, MS; sisters, De’Trecia Corothers of Ocala, FL and Chastity Jones of Oxford, MS, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Big Mac” Corothers, maternal grandmother, Sarah Payton, and paternal grandmother, Katherine Wells.
