Classie Mae Reynolds Gable, daughter of the late Frank P. Reynolds and Hattie Mae Harris Reynolds, was born December 23, 1947. Classie, known to some as "Sis" professed a hope in Christ and joined East St. Peter M.B. Church where she loved singing in the choir. Classie remained a faithful member of East St. Peter until her health failed.
Classie received her early education in the Lafayette/Oxford school districts. On September 13, 1975, she was united in holy matrimony to U. G. Gable. They were married for 47 years, before he transitioned in October of 2022. (How she loved her some "Mane.") Classie and U. G. had no biological children but there were many children that they treated as their own. She was employed with the University of Mississippi as a custodian and with the University's cafeteria as a Food Service Aide.
Classie was a loving and compassionate person. It was demonstrated in walk in life. She loved to shop and stock up her storage house with all kinds of stuff. The storage house was kind of like a pantry to for the family. Yes, she was a sharer.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Oxford Health and Rehab, Classie, also known as "Sis," went home not only to be with the Lord but to see her loving "Mane" again. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters: Mary Reed and Josie Carothers, both of Abbeville MS; a brother in law: Eugene (Marie) Gable and a sisters in law: Betty Gipson, Jimmie Thompson, Annie Carothers, and Linda Mathis, all of Oxford MS: She also leaves a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Classie is preceded in death by her husband: U. G. Gable; her parents: Frank and Hattie Mae Reynolds; seven brothers: Jank Harris, Raymond Thompson, George Harris, Joseph Reynolds, Andrew Thompson, Dave Reynolds, and Joe Reynolds; and one sister: Earnestine Reynolds and brother in laws: Fred Reed and Rowland Carothers.
Please keep the Gable/ Reynolds family in your prayers.
