Claytie Evelyn Fisher Nabors was born on 21 October 1937 to the late Jannie Mae Davis Fisher and Lacie Richmond (Bear) Fisher. She departed this life on 15 June 2023.
Claytie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Jefferson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Abbeville, MS. She later moved to Aurora, CO and joined the Aurora Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She later joined Light of The World Church and remained a faithful member until her health began to fail. At that time, she relocated to Madison, MS and attended Redeemer Church as often as possible.
Claytie attended Gordon Elementary in Abbeville, MS, Rosenwald School in Marshall County, MS, and completed her high school education at the Oxford Training School in Oxford, MS in 1955. Upon graduation she moved to Grand Rapids, MI with her brother.
While in Grand Rapids, Claytie worked at the Blodgett Hospital. After moving back to Mississippi, Claytie did domestic work in Abbeville, MS prior to moving to Aurora, CO. in 1969. While living in Colorado, Claytie worked at the Lowry Air Force Base Mile High Lodge, in Denver, CO from July 1969 – April 1994. During her tenure with Lowry she received numerous awards prior to her retirement. After retiring from Lowery, Claytie worked for the Country Harvest restaurant where she received employee of the month. She retired in 2001.
Claytie met and married the late Willie Fred Nabors on 30 May 1959 in Grand Rapids, MI and to this union three daughters were born, Beverly Jean Nabors, Shari Lynne Nabors, and Angela Carol Nabors.
Claytie leaves to cherish her memories three daughters Beverly (Robert) Nabors of Abbeville, MS, Shari (Michael) Thomas of Madison, MS, Angela (James) Whitfield of Memphis, TN, one stepdaughter Joyce (Joe) Mathis, Fulton, MS; One stepdaughter-In-law Anita Nabors, Tupelo, MS; two nieces Chertha Yarber, Jan Mitchell (Lenard) Hayes; four nephews, James Mitchell, Darrell Mitchell, Lacie Steven Fisher, Ronald Fisher; special sister cousins Bessie A. Couch Dixon, Jennette Couch, Mae Ella Couch Campbell, Mary Lee Couch Brandon. Eight grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jannie Mae Davis Fisher and Lacie Richmond (Bear) Fisher, her maternal grandparents Abraham Lincoln Davis and Elvira Lenora Powell Davis, Paternal grandparents William Levy (Hawk) Fisher and Clatie Boone Alexander, brothers Elyhue Fisher and Lacy Edward Fisher and sister Dorothy Jean Fisher Mitchell, step-daughter Donna Sue Nabors Walton, and step son Fredrick LeShelton Nabors.
