Clyde Holmes

Clyde Holmes was born to the late Mattie Holmes Pinkins in Batesville, Mississippi, on December 9,  1951.

He was united in matrimony to the love of his life, Gloria D. Murphy, on June 6, 1981. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Anthony and Elizabeth. 

Clyde was a member of Salem M.B. Church. He was wonderful husband, a strong loving father, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Clyde worked as a construction worker for many years. He later gained employment at Walmart where he worked for ten plus years.

Clyde was the type of man that was always willing to give his last to help others. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and working around the house.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023,  the Lord said "no more toiling. No more labor. Follow me and ill give you rest." And while surrounded by his loving family, Clyde went peacefully to sleep.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Gloria Holmes of Courtland MS; two children Anthony Holmes and Elizabeth (Robert) Webster both of Courtland MS; three grandchildren, his sister: Lucy (Lamont) Johnson of Memphis TN  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Clyde is preceded in death by his mother: Mattie Holmes Pinkins; his step-father: Terry Pinkins; and his brother: Hosie Harrison Holmes.
