Debra A. Clayton was born January 8, 1955 in Oxford, MS to the late Willie Lee and Ella Burnett Wadley.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined East Saint Peter M.B. Church, where she served on the Mother Board. She remained a faithful member until her death.
Debra received her education from Lafayette County School district. She was united in matrimony to Sammy Wayne Clayton at an early age.
Debra was a natural nurturer and caregiver. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Graceland Nursing Home for 40 years until her health began to fail. In addition to the clients, Debra shared her unconditional love and support with her co-workers, forming lifetime friendships and bonds.
In her spare time, Debra enjoyed cooking, traveling, movie time with her sisters, caring for others, and being with her family, grandkids, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son, James Clayton, brother, Kelvin Wadley, and two sisters, Erma Jean Chatman and Brenda Wadley.
On Monday, December 21, 2020, Debra peacefully passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS, with her loving family by her side.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Ronda Clayton-Pomerlee (Maurice), Andrian Clayton, and Erica Clayton all of Oxford, MS; three grandsons, Torey Clayton, Jaylen Hilliard, Brayden Hilliard; two granddaughters, Daysha Clayton and September Hilliard; one great grandson, Tristen Clayton all of Oxford; brothers, Willie Wadley (Marley) of AR, Lewis Wadley (Neoykee) and Jeffery Wadley (Bennett) both of Oxford, MS; sisters, Clare Brooks (Carl) and Sharon Wadley both of Oxford, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, coworkers, and friends.
