Derek Patton Obituary

Derek Lemont Patton, was born May 11, 1979, in Oxford, MS, to Cynthia Patton-Gilkey and Sharron Webb. He joined West Springhill MB Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Clinton Gipson and later united with Berean MB Church in Memphis, TN.

Derek received his formal education from the Memphis public school system, graduating from Whitehaven High School in 1997, and  continued to pursue educational advancement through Phoenix University. Derek was employed with Nike, Inc. in Memphis, TN as an Area Manager (Coach). He loved his support team and members at Nike, speaking often about the team of workers. Derek was a hard worker, motivator and very ambitious. His goal was to move to the top. "I think I have found my calling," was his description of his "Purpose of Life."

Derek loved to show off his culinary skills. He once had ambitions to become a chef and his 3-Meat Lasagna was his signature dish. Derek was very family-oriented, and a selfless man, willing to help someone when he could. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews and nieces.
