“Noogie,” as he was affectionately called by his family and those closest to him, loved his family and absolutely adored his mother. He was a true “momma’s boy.” Whether it was going to the grocery store, fishing, or riding around on Sunday mornings – he never left her side.
He was loving, humorous, and full of sarcasm. On holidays, you could find him firing up the grill and on Sundays during football season, watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved hunting, fishing, and playing his video games.
On Wednesday, July 20th, Derrick passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. He will truly be missed and loved forever by his family. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sandra Dennis of Oxford, MS; brother, Cedric Johnson of Oxford, MS; and sister, Kimberly Dennis of Oxford, MS; a host of cousins, friends, and classmates.
