Dewanna Roshea Holmes

Dewanna Roshea Holmes was born June, 20 1990, in Oxford Ms and was the youngest of six children born to the union of Freddie and Carolyn Holmes. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Dewanna attended Oxford High School. On September 18, 2015, she blessed the family with our “Miracle Baby” Carter Blake Messiah Holmes, her only son and her bonus daughter, Zy’Kerria Harris.

Dewanna was raised in church and embodied her love for Christ. She had such a special gift to inspire others. Dewanna was impetuous about family time, fashion, “looking good”, and creative crafts, but most passionate about being a mom to her loving son, Carter. On April 5, 2024, Dewanna transitioned peacefully at her residence to be with the Lord.

Dewanna leaves to cherish her memories with her son: Carter Holmes of Oxford: her parents: Freddie and Carolyn Holmes of Oxford, MS: Brothers: Freddie and Federick Holmes of Oxford, MS; Sisters: Tangela Holmes of Virginia Beach, Tiffany Holmes-Ealey (Terry) of Olive Branch, MS, and Carolyn Holmes of Oxford, MS; Bonus Sister: Quanda Johnson of Oxford, MS; Her nephews Javion Gipson-Holmes, Frederick Holmes Jr., Deon’Trez Holmes, Marquaveion Holmes, K’Marion Holmes, Caden Holmes and Jamir Holmes. Her beautiful nieces: ZaNylah Holmes, Mariah Harbin, Aubree’ Davis and Kaylee Holmes; Her special friend, Corey Carr of Water Valley, MS; Her God-Daughter, Summer Wilson of Oxford, MS; Her close friends: Tameka Tallie, Santerrica Clay, Anzaria Dean, Kimberly Gipson, Gerica Crawford, Severa Sullivan, Shemika Watt, and Santana Mitchell. Her God-Child: Summer Wilson; and a host of close aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Ezra and Autry Higginbottom, Henry Ivy, paternal grandparents Henry Holmes and Juanita Murray Holmes along with several loving aunts and uncles.
