Dorothy Rockette Obituary

Dorothy was born April 29, 1954, in Lafayette County, MS to the late Lonell Rockette and Oliva Mills. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death.

She was an employee of North MS Regional Center where she worked as a direct Care worker for 25 plus years, and currently served as a Foster grandparent where she had a bonus son. Dorothy previously worked at God’s Learning Center, North Oxford Baptist Church Daycare, and The Board.

Dorothy attended Weems School and later transferred to Lafayette County school where she graduated. She loved shopping at Walmart as she called it “Wally World”, cooking, trying new foods, eating out with her family, traveling, music and enjoyed caring for her dogs and any stray that came to her house. She was called The Rock throughout her life.

Her joy was worshipping at Mt. Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Hull. Her plans were to join Mt. Hope’s Church Sisterhood later this month.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Dorothy traded her earthly life for eternal life with her Lord and Savior.
