Earl Glenn Campbell, son of the late Robert Louis and Florence (Jones) Campbell, was born September 17, 1963, in Lafayette County, MS.
Glenn, as he was affectionately called by everyone, was reared in a Christian home, accepted Christ at an early age and united with Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. He remained a faithful member until his death. At Philadelphia, Glenn sang in the Male and Mass Choirs. His voice, smooth and silky, would ignite a holy fire at church on those third Sunday mornings. In addition to singing at Philadelphia, he was also a member of The Weary Travelers Gospel Quartet group. He was a member of Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #387.
His education was received from Lafayette School District, and he was a proud graduate of Lafayette’s Class of 1981. While in school, Glenn played football for the Commodores, and this love would stay with him for the rest of his life. He loved the Commodores football team. After high school, he furthered his education by at Itawamba Community College in Tupelo MS.
Glenn gained employment with the Lafayette County Solid Waste Department and was employed for 27.5 years. During his tenure there, he was named Employee of the month in January 2022 and May 2025.
Soft spoken, yet mighty, genuine, what you see is what you get – all words to describe Glenn but his greatest description would be a true child of God.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North MS, Glenn traded his earthly mic for one in the heavenly choir, as he answered his Master’s call. He was a great man, brother, uncle, and friend who will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him most.
