Obituary: On October 10, 1960, Edward Earl Vaughn was born to Charlie and Altha Mae “Jackie” Vaughn Jr. in Oxford, Mississippi. He remained here for the entirety of his life.
Edward accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He received his formal education in the Oxford Public School district, and he went on to maintain a career in service maintenance. When not working, Edward could be found fishing on the banks along Clear Creek Road. In 1997, he met the love of his life E’Lisa Jenkins, and they married in 2017, enjoying six years of blissful matrimony. Through this union, he gained two bonus sons: Karnard De’Ron Jenkins and Nicholas Deontae Jenkins.
Edward Vaughn departed this life on Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Charlie Edward Vaughn and his sister Monica Vaughn.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife E’Lisa Jenkins of Oxford, Mississippi; six sons, Shawn (Jessica) Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; Patrick Jemeire Pegues-Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; Edward (D’Nesha) Vaughn and Savontae Vaughn of Tupelo, Mississippi; Karnard De’Ron Jenkins and Nicholas Deontae Jenkins of Oxford, Mississippi; and granddaughters, La’Myah Jermeire Pegues, Miley Elizabeth Vaughn, and Kailyn Lenise Vaughn; mother, Altha Mae Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; eight siblings, Vivian Brown of Oxford, Mississippi; Calvin (Pamela) Vaughn of Jackson, Mississippi; Carolyn Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; Melanie (Ronical) Vaughn-Wilson of Horn Lake, Mississippi; Fernando (Cassandra) Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; Teretta Vaughn and Vonetta Vaughn of Bedford, Texas; Kimiranda Vaughn of Oxford, Mississippi; and Rodney (Carla) Baskin of Oxford, Mississippi; two sisters-in-love Mary L. Gipson and Rev. Yvonne (Harry) Smith of Oxford Mississippi; one brother-in-love Rufus Jenkins Jr. and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
