Elizabeth "Ninnie Bae" Burnett was born December 12, 1938, in Oxford, Mississippi to the late Dennis and Merlinda Lewis Burnett. Elizabeth, accepted Christ at an early age and was an faithful member of Buford Chapel United Church where she sang with the most amazing voice ever with Buford Chapel 's Choir and with the Buford Chapel Community Choir for many years.
Elizabeth received her education at Oxford Training School. Years later, wanting to be the best provider she could be, with fierce determination, she proudly received her GED certificate and for many years, she worked two jobs, as a housekeeper and at Emerson Electric to support her family.
Elizabeth loved her family, and to know "Ninnie Bae", as she was affectionally called, was to love her too. She was a wonderful, beautiful, woman of God, who loved the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, singing and spending time with family and friends.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, while at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, Mississippi, God needed another angel to add to His heavenly choir, so he chose "Ninnie Bae". Her parents, siblings, a grandson, and a great grandson, all will be waiting to welcome her into heaven, along with other family and friends who have gone on before.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her loving memory, nine children: Richard (Shae) Burnett, Ronnie (Margaret) Burnett and Adrian (Sam) Young all of Oxford MS, Lawrence Young, Julius (Lya) Young, and Christopher Young all of Lithonia GA, Allen (Jacci) Young of Alpharetta GA, Casandra (Joseph) Banks of Hernando MS, and Gretchen Young-Charles of Bolingbrook IL; a special daughter: Ann Devoe of Oxford MS; her sister: Freddie (Jimmie) Redmond of Oxford MS; and a host of grand, and great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
