Elvira Jordan, the 5th child out of nine children, was born July 24, 1949, in Belen, Mississippi to the late Earl Jordan Sr and Ruby Jordan. She entered eternal rest on July 10, 2025, in Oxford, MS.
After graduating from Quitman County High School in Marks, MS, she moved her four children to Chicago, IL. Elvira attended Dearborn Kaplan Insurance School and obtained her insurance license in Life and Health. She also attended Logo Bible Institute for Theology and obtained an Entrepreneurial Certificate. In 2007, Elvira was ordained and licensed as a minister of the gospel at Mt. Zion First Holy Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. After relocating to Texas, she became an active member at City Church Melissa, where some called her "Ms. Clare." In July 2023, she relocated to Oxford MS and became an active member at Pinelake Church as one of the college student leaders.
Elvira was a top Life Insurance Sales Representative for Prince Riley & Associates, Chicago, IL., Data Entry Operator for H.D. Hudson Manufacturing, Chicago, IL., Team Member for State Farm Insurance Companies, Tucson, AZ & McKinney, TX. She was part of Prison Fellowship, Chicago, IL and recently became part of Lafayette County Detention Center and Mississippi Coats 4kidz. Elvira enjoyed outreach ministry, reading, researching different things of interest, watching football (College) and cooking.
She is survived by her four children: Marvin, Tucson AZ, Sherry, Melissa TX, Michael (Kim), Chicago IL and David, Milwaukee WI; Her siblings: Annie, Chicago IL, Lanoris, Marks MS, Bessie, Wichita KS, Earl Jr, Sardis MS, Turner, Gurnee IL, Thomas Sr (Brenda), Oxford MS, and Johnny (Rosalina), Phoenix IL.
Her siblings that preceded her in death: Mary Lee and Roger; Her grandchildren: Robert, Erika, Shamiyah, Marvin Jr (Shay), Michael, Taylor and Prince and great granddaughter: Leia.
Elvira is also survived by her special cousin: Linda Keys, President/CEO of Coats 4Kidz, who was her rock; special friends: Katherine McCraw, the Normans and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
