Eula Smith Obituary

Eula Mae Smith, the fifth of ten children, was born May 5, 1932, to the late Charlie C. and Lula (Bruce) Smith, in Lafayette County, Mississippi. Eula accepted Christ at an early age and joined Flint Hill M.B. Church in Etta, Mississippi, but later, united with Union Hill M.B. Church where she was a former member of the Usher Ministry and Kitchen Ministry and was a current member of the Mother's Board.

In 1951, Eula joined in matrimony and shared 56 years of marriage with the love of her life, A. Q. Smith. To this union, six children were born. Eula loved her family and loved growing flowers, vegetables and cooking and canning. She was always sharing her jellies, preserves, Squash Relish, Pickled Orka and fresh garden vegetables with family and friends.

Every year about the beginning of February, she would start planning what flowers she would have to Mary plant or set out in March when she came home. She wanted to enjoy her flowers while she lived because at her funeral, she wouldn't be able to see, nor smell them.

On Friday morning, March 5, 2021, God plucked a beautiful flower called Eula, from this earthly garden and transplanted her into his heavenly garden, where she will be eternally nourished. To cherish her memories are her children: Mae Katherine (Randolph) Buford and Mary Jean Smith and Calvin Smith, all of Oxford MS, L. Q. (Genelle) Smith of Wilmington DE, Carolyn (Randolph) Parham of Clarksdale MS, Timothy (Dessar) Smith of Racine WI and her grandson she raised as a son, Julian (Karen) Smith of Oxford MS; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; her siblings: Ruth Brown of Oxford MS, Charlie Smith, Jr. of Etta MS, Marzee Smith of Racine WI, James Cliff Smith of Buffalo NY and Lula Grace (Walter) Kilgore of Grand Rapids MI; her God children: Vivian (John) Price of Oxford MS and James (Brenda) Storey of Ripley MS; Also cherishing her loving memories are her sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Smith, Leona (Chester) Starks, Lillie Beatrice Pegues and Annie Smith: her brother-in-law: Bishop Martin; a special cousin: Elaine Wallace; good friends: Eddie Lou Pegues, Evelyn Jones and Clem Knight, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
