Life Reflections
Mrs. Fairy Bell Carothers, daughter of the late Jim and Orean Hewlett, was born in Oxford, Mississippi on August 29, 1936.
Fairy Bell accepted Christ at an early age and joined Clear Creek M.B. Church where she served faithfully until her health would not longer afford her the opportunity. She served as the Usher Ministry’s Head Usher, a Deaconess, and on the Mother Board. She loved her church, her children singing and cooking.
Mother Fairy Bell loved helping others and taking care of children. Her compassion for caring showed greatly through her service as nanny and housekeeper for Dr. Cooper McIntosh. She also served as a cook for several fraternities and sororities at the University of Mississippi.
Fairy Bell was united in matrimony to the late LeVan Wadlington and to this union, seven children were born. She later married William Earl “Chuck” Carothers. “Chuck” preceded her in death.
On Tuesday, February 18th, 2020, Mother Fairy Bell Carothers, with her family by her side, made a sweet transition and went home to be with the Lord.
To cherish her legacy, she leaves six children: Wanda Nicks, Sharon Wadlington both of Racine WI; Tommie Anderson of Oxford MS; LeVan (Betty) Wadlington, Jr., Bennie (Bonnie) Wadlington both of Racine WI and Ricky (Caroline) Wadlington of Oxford MS; a brother: James Hewlett: sister: Susie Lee Thompson; a special niece: Rorene Houston; sisters-in-law: Mary Howard, Altha Mae Vaughn and Ina Wadlington, all of Oxford MS; 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
