Flora "Sweet" Harrison Obituary

Flora C. Pegues Harrison, daughter of the late Ellie and Lola Mae Pegues, was born September 20, 1953, in Lafayette County, MS, and was affectionately known as "Sweet," but most of her family and friends called her Charlene.

Charlene accepted Christ at an early age and united with East St. Peter M.B. Church in Abbeville MS. She attended Central High School with the class of 1971, graduating with the '72' class of Oxford High School. This was the first class to graduate following total integration of public school. She later received a certification in Cosmetology from Jeffrie Lyles Cosmetology.  She was the mother of two wonderful children, Tracy and Vanessa.

On September 23, 2006, following a beautiful courtship, Charlene married the love of her life, Derrils Harrison, and OH HOW SHE LOVED HER HUSBAND. Not only did she love her husband, but she also loved spoiling him. She loved her family and being with family. She was devoted to her profession as a cosmetologist, specializing in hair care, versus hair styling only. She also enjoyed her housekeeping jobs, cooking, music, dancing, and collecting creative rocks. She was a kind and true friend to others and never met a stranger. She was a giver and would go shopping at the Goodwill Store, buy things and turn around and give them to others. Charlene was a stickler about her own hair and appearance all the way to the end.

One thing that was so very impressive about Charlene was her genuine concern for others. She would call and check on EVERYBODY, even if she was going through herself. Her caring and concern had no limitations, but on Wednesday morning, November 30, 2022, while in Baptist Memorial Hospital/NM, God sent an angel to check on her, and with her Goodwill spirit, and without reservation or limitations, she gave herself back to God and went home to be with Him.

Flora Charlene "Sweet" Harrison is missed and lovingly remembered by those she leave behind: her husband, Derrils Harrison of Courtland MS; her children: Cedric Tracy Pegues (Chambarla) of Oxford MS, Vanessa Parham (Dazerick) of Grand Prairie TX; and Annetta Conner (Duane) of Blythewood SC: two God Daughters, Rosalyn Denese Westbrook (Sylvester) and Felicia Wilkins both of Oxford MS; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her siblings: A.
