Floyd Antwayne Brown also affectionately called “Flizo” and “Lil Floyd” was born August 20, 1979, in Memphis, Tennessee, was the second born of the three children to Floyd E. Brown Sr. and the late Annette Vaughn Brown.
Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hammitt Hill United Methodist, which later merged with Burns United Methodist Church which later became known as Oxford First United Methodist Church.
He received his education in the Oxford School District and graduated from Oxford High School Class of 1997. Floyd continued his educational studies at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and graduated with his associate degree in electronic engineering. Floyd was a great father. He had a passion for dancing, cooking, joking aroun, restoring antique cars and taking care of his family.
His employment began at Smitty’s Restaurant and Hardee’s in Oxford MS. He was self-employed as a business owner for over 25 years in Commercial Venting Hood LLC in Jackson, MS.
Even though his family loved him very much, God loved him more and on Thursday, December 18, 2025, while in University Hospital in Jackson, MS, Floyd Antwayne Brown, received a call from the one who loved him the most, letting him know that his battle was over. God took his hands and he went home to be with the Lord.
He will be missed deeply by his family and all whom loved him. Remembered and dearly missed by his daughters: Nia Brown, Jada Brown and Asia Brown; two granddaughters: Ja’Miyah and Ka’Miyah Jacobs; his life partner: Lannie Rooks all of Jackson, MS; one niece: Kenteria Jarrett of Southaven, MS; his sister: Tammy Brown Myrie of Southaven, MS; his brother: Anthony Brown (Laquandria) of Richmond Hills, GA; his great aunt: Georgia Bryant of Oxford, MS; great great aunt: Easter King of Memphis, TN; his aunts: Betty (James) Young, Janice Brown, Sarah Crawford, Ruth Thompson, Mary Wesson, Regina Brassell, Zelma Jean Brown, Essie Mae Savage, Betty (Lenwood) Griffin, Henrietta Westbrook, Margaret (George) Sullivan, Flora Boston, Louise Boston and Dessie Boston all of Oxford, MS, Flora Harwell of Taylor, MS; Brenda (Lamont) Barber of Olive Branch, MS and Rutha Boston-Smith of Flint, MI; his uncles: Henry McKinley Vaughn, Steve Green and Herman Brown all of Oxford, MS and Avant Vaughn, Jr of Grenada, MS.
Floyd is preceded in death by his mother: Annette Vaughn Brown; grandparents: Avant and Josephine Vaughn; and Lucille Joiner Brown; his aunt: Carry Lynn Vaughn; and great grandmother: Victoria Boone, and close aunts and uncles.
