Frankie Lee Liggins was born March 31, 1961, in Lafayette County, Mississippi to the late Earnest Liggins and Annie B. Liggins (Buford-Hudson). At an early age, Frankie accepted Christ as his Savior, was baptized and became a member of East St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Abbeville, Mississippi.
Frankie received his early education in the Oxford School District. As a young man and into his latter years of life, Frankie's occupation privileged him to work on the outside. His jobs ranged from tree service, to hauling wood and even logging. Frankie enjoyed working outside work even after his health declined. He was a hardworking man and always put others before himself. He loved life and enjoyed spending cherished moments hanging out with his family and friends, making them laugh, even when they didn't want to laugh. He had a way of lighting the mood at dark times.
Frankie was someone you could always count on. He enjoyed fishing, cookouts and western movies. If there was a family cookout, one thing was guaranteed, Frankie is coming dressed for the occasion and never without his favorite Fedora hat or Kango cap, his favorite shoes, those 501 Levi's, and his jewelry.
On Saturday, June 15, 2024, while at Baptist Memorial Hospital/NM, Frankie peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to a heavenly eternal life.
He leaves to cherish his memories: A special friend: Georgia Frierson; four sisters: Vera Campbell, Mary Owens and JoAnn Draper, all of Oxford, MS and Annie Campbell Ivey (Glen) of Verona MS; one brother: Willie C. Hudson of Oxford MS; one aunt: JoAnna Burnette of Memphis TN; Frankie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Frankie did not have biological children, but he has two special nephews: Terrell Hudson and Key'Darius McGuirt, whom he was a father figure to for most of their lives; two special cousins: Annie Gaters-Gilliom and Willie Wade Gaters, who were like siblings to him.
Frankie is preceded in death by his parents: Earnest Liggins and Annie B. Buford-Hudson; two sisters: Linda and Robbie Jean; four brothers: Willie Lee, Johnny Lee, Willie Frank and Thomas.
Please keep the Liggins family in your prayers.
