Franklin Manning, son of the late Jo and Ira G. Manning, and lovingly known as “Frank,” was born in Oxford, Mississippi, on April 30, 1963.
Frank received his early education in the Oxford School District, and received his GED in Batesville, Mississippi. As a young pre-teen, Frank enjoyed hanging around the Oxford Activity Center, where he watched and joked with others who were there playing basketball.
As a child, like many other children, Frank was on the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church bus being transported to New Hope for Vacation Bible School and other church activities. Frank worked as a cook at the University of Mississippi, and he was a rolling stone, and as they say, a rolling stone gathers no moss. He loved his family, and he always kept you laughing.
On Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023, while in Baptist Memorial Hospital/NM, Frank went home to be at rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory: four sisters: Joan Jones of Tupelo MS, Martha Jean Tolliver of Water Valley MS, Patricia Manning of Oxford MS, and Ella Ree Wilson of Knoxville TN; two brothers: Clarence Tolliver of Texas and James Manning of Illinois. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents: Jo and Ira Manning; his siblings: Willie, Aaron, Jo Curt and Gloria Manning.
Please keep the Manning family in your prayers.
