Gary Wayne James

Mr. Gary Wayne James, son of the late  "Willie" Elwood and Cornelia Holmes James, was born January 17, 1968, in Batesville, Mississippi. Gary accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized, and joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville, Mississippi.

Gary received his formal education in the South Panola School District and graduated from South Panola High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy Reserve. In 2001, Gary was united in holy matrimony to Chuteah Oliver and this union was blessed with one child, a son, Terrance Dewayne James. Gary was employed as a stocker at Love's Travel Stop in Batesville. 

On Thursday, August 29th, 2024, while at the Panola Medical Center, Gary made a swift transition to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving son: Terrance Dewayne James of Batesville MS; two brothers: Ronnie (Wanda) James and Kelly Ray Adair, both of Batesville MS; five sisters: Kylie James (Deshone) Thompson of Oxford MS, Michelle James (Keith), Lillie (Charles) Carr, and Barbara Lynn James all of Batesville MS, and Bobby (Roger) Hickman of Davenport IA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents: Elwood and Cornelia James; his brother: Tyrone James; maternal grandparents: Priscilla Holmes and Reedy Guy Holmes, Sr. and paternal grandparents: Sammie James and Rizpah Chapman James,
