Ge’Varick Quantrell McEwen entered this world April 5, 1987, to Cherlyn “Cooky” McEwen and the late Gary Blackmon. He professed his faith in Christ, at an early age, and joined Second Missionary Baptist Church.
As an adult, Ge’Varick later became a part of the SOE family, Spirit of Excellence, under the leadership of Bishop Kelvin Ransey and First Lady Ransey, whom he loved very much. He would later go on to be a member of Truth Generation Church of Memphis under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Cunningham.
Ge’Varick was a graduate of Oxford High School- Class of 2005. He was multi-talented in many areas.
He began his post-secondary education at Hinds Community College in Jackson, MS, and would go on to become a certified analyst in the field of Information Technology. He worked and was recruited by companies such as: Dell, US Bank, Apple, and The Hartford.
Ge’Varick poured life and love into everyone that he came across.
There was no one he loved more than his loving Mother, Cooky and Sister, Ebony.
They all shared an unbreakable bond.
Ge’Varick was a beautiful and compassionate soul who loved living life and loved even more to see people happy. He enjoyed traveling, going out with his family and friends, who became family.
He had a God-given gift and passion for singing and would often sing with the praise team and as a lead singer in the choir. Most importantly, he loved God!
On August 4, 2023, he received his call from the Lord, Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving Mother, Cherlyn “Cooky” McEwen of Oxford, MS, whom he loved dearly and was so protective of; His beloved Sister and Best Friend, Ebony McEwen of Southaven, MS. Siblings Anthony Hilliard of Oxford, MS and Telisha Rose of Memphis, TN: Special Aunts Beverly Martin and Rebecca McEwen of Oxford, MS, and Special Cousin, Tineshe “Tinko” Kee, of Oxford, MS. He also leaves to cherish a nephew, niece, a host of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and dear friends, and paternal grandmother, Marie Gable of Abbeville, MS.
Ge’Varick was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents: Pate McEwen and Betty McEwen.
