George E. Williams

George Edward Williams, son of the late James Lee Williams and Alean Vaughn Williams, was born September 16, 1955 in Oxford, MS.

George accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a member of Philadelphia M.B. Church in Oxford, MS. He attended Central High School. George was a proud father and would do anything for his one and only daughter, Shannon Shepherd. He was very skillful and good with his hands and loved to paint, fish, barbecue, work on his truck and plant fresh vegetables in the garden that he shared with his older sister, Louise. He could paint and fix anything that he put his hands on. He worked for Williams' Painting along side of his cousin, Willie Williams. He later became a free lance painter. George had a mild and gentle spirit and a smile that could light up the darkest room.

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, while painting, he fell from a building which paralyzed him from the his neck down. On October 23, 2020 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN, George's physical body slipped away quietly. He now dwells in an eternal building in the heavens that he doesn't have to paint, a building of God, a building not made by man's hand.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter: Shannon Shepherd of Oxford, MS; two grandsons, Arthur Wells V and Noah Drake both of Oxford, MS; three sisters, Louise Williams of Oxford, MS, Ruthie Williams of New Albany, MS and Jeanette Williams of Huntsville, AL, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

George is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Henry Williams and Clayton Williams.
