Ms. Grace Arlene Carter, daughter of the late Mr. Harvey and Ina Perry Carter, was born December 17, 1931, in Lafayette County, Mississippi.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Valley Chapel C.M.E. Church. Later, she united with St. James C.M.E. Church in Hattiesburg, MS. There, she served as president of Stewardess, and she was a member of the Missionary Ministry. She was a faithful member and supported her church financially.
Ms. Carter was a graduate of Oxford Training School and Alcorn State College (present day Alcorn State University). She was a retiree from Rowan High school where she taught mathematics. Grace loved her family, flowers, sewing, and cooking. Although she wasn’t a mother, she nourished many children during her life.
On March 30, 2023, at 6:00 a.m., she departed this life at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She leaves to cherish her memories, her nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousin and friend, Opeline Kelly of Oxford, MS; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McGee of Hattiesburg, MS; church family, former students, neighbors, caregivers, and co-workers.
Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ina Carter and 11 siblings.
