Gregory Burt was born February 14, 1956 in Oxford, MS to the late Malcolm and Mary Alice Burt.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Mount Hope MB Church. Greg, as he was affectionately called, received his education from Oxford city schools where he played football and basketball. He was a graduate of OHS' Class of 1974. He went on to further his education at Northwest MS College.
Greg was united in matrimony to Effie Mae Mathis and to this union, two children were born.
Greg was a hard working man and worked at The Oxford Eagle, Emerson Electric, and Chrysler until he found his calling as a painter. He was employed by Williams Painting until his health failed. When he wasn't working, he really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, brothers, and other loved ones.
Greg was family oriented and will always be remembered for his humorous sayings, loving personality, and his unwavering faithfulness to his family.
On Saturday, October 17, 2020, the sun set on Greg's earthly life and God called him home to live in His kingdom, where illness and pain are no more. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Pam McGee of Racine, WI, Kendrick Mathis and Carlos Burt of Oxford, MS; grandchildren; brothers, Michael, Jerry, Cornelius, Danny and Eric Burt, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Jo Campbell.
