Harold Erskin Johnson

Harold Erskin Johnson, son of Robert Abe and Fannie Askew Johnson, was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on June 2, 1957. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Galilee C.M.E. Church in Oxford, and later became a member of Greater St. John M.B. Church in Oxford, Mississippi'

Erskin, as he was known, received his formal education in the Oxford School District graduating in 1975 from Oxford High School where he was a proud team player on the Oxford Charger's football team. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army and upon completion of his enlistment period, he received an honorable discharge.

When he returnd from the military, Erskin enrolled at Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was united in matrimony to Barbara Buford and to this union three wonderful children were born, Kerry, LaTia and Danielle. In his spare time, Erskin loved fishing, gardening, picking huckleberries.

Erskin accepted his calling into the ministry and because the pastor of Greater St. John M. B. Church.  On Monday, March 30, 2020, only a few weeks after he hosted his last church revival, the Lord called him home to a GREATER REVIVAL. And if you were to ask him now how he's doing, he would say, "Blessed, By The BEST."

Erskin is loving remembered by his children: Kerry C. Johnson, LaTia Johnson, and Danielle Johnson, also, Shani Mack and Dwayne Buford all of Oxford MS; his sister: Hattie (Andy) Aikerson of Bessemer AL; his brothers: Charles W.  (Ethel) Johnson, and James W. Johnson, both of Oxford MS; host of grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Erskins was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Fannie Johnson; two sisters: Robbie Dunn and Brenda Howard; and a granddaughter: Jakalia Thomas.
