Howard Eugene Hewlett son of the late Jimmie Lee Hewlett and Eula Mae (Brown) Hewlett, was born on January 27, 1946, in Lafayette County, MS.
Howard was the oldest of 12 children. He received his education at Oxford Training School and graduated from Central High School class of 1964. He later attended Northwest Mississippi Community College studying wood work. Howard married the love of his life Laverne Campbell. He was a member of Burns U.M. Church before relocating to Milwaukee, WI. After returning to Oxford, MS, and assumed several different jobs from construction to cooking, Howard found the job that stole his heart.....custodian with Oxford School District at Oxford Elementary School. He worked at Oxford Elementary for many years and loved working with the children.
On Friday, December 22, 2023, after a brief illness, while in North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo MS, Howard peacefully transition from the world, with his sister, Barbara, at his bedside.
Hw leaves to cherish his memories, his five sisters: Barbara Walker of Oxford, MS, Corrine (Daniel) Shaw of Upper Darby, PA, Janice Harley and Jennifer (Tony) Anderson both of Milwaukee, WI and Kena (Juan) Dunn of Oxford, MS; three brothers: James (Saddie) Brown of Milwaukee, WI, Dwight (Inez) Brown of Como, MS, and Mike (Bridgette) Woods of Abbeville, MS. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee (Mary) Hewlett and Eula Mae Hewlett; his brothers: Jimmy Wayne Woods, Ronnie and Donnie Brown and nephew: Jerry Kirkwood, Jr.
