Inez Milliner

Inez Milliner was born to the late Helen Milliner and Robert L. Harmon on December 28, 1926, in Oxford, MS. Aunt Inez, as she was affectionately called, grew up as a child in Oxford, MS and later moved to Memphis, TN in pursuit of better employment.

Inez began her service and walk with the Lord at an early age. She was taught the importance of commitment and a willingness to serve God and fellowmen at Salem U.M. Church in Oxford, MS. After moving to Memphis, she joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. She was a loyal, faithful and dedicated member. For many years she taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church choir and a honorary member of the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Mother’s Board. Embracing her title as Sunday School teacher, she worked tirelessly to ensure that all youth and young adults were taught to follow the word of God.

Inez was a hard worker. She has worked jobs since her teen years and never complained. At an early age she worked in private homes in Oxford, MS. Upon relocated to Memphis, TN she continued to provide cleaning services in private homes. She preceded to find janitorial work for Deans Truck Line in Memphis, TN and later Freemans Truck Lines where she remained until retiring at the age of 65.

Mother Inez departed this life on December 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her dear mother and father: Helen and Robert Harmon; sisters Virginia Woodard, Arvilla Riley, and  Annie Mae Milliner; brother: J C Harmon and nephew John Harmon.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters: Mary Harmon of Birmingham, AL and Ruby H. Owens of Oxford, MS; and brother in law: Joe Woodard of Memphis, TN. She also leaves behind 6 nieces: Mary Harmon and Tanya Harmon of Oxford, MS, Chentha Riley of Union City, GA, Sheretha Yarber of Birmingham, AL, Robin Harmon of Actworth, GA, and Christina (Walter) Donald of Atlanta, GA; 6 nephews: James (Minnie) Milliner, Joe Milliner and William Harmon all of Oxford, MS, Billie (Bobbie) Harmon, and Rodney Harmon of Memphis, TN, and Warren Riley of Millington, TN. She also leaves a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
