Irma Dell Wright, daughter of the late Willie Frank Wright, Sr., and Betty Louise Wright, was born October 19, 1943, in Batesville, MS.
“Dell,” as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ at a young age at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland, MS and remained a faithful member until her death. She loved attending church and served on the Usher Board until her health failed.
She attended Patton Lane school in Batesville, MS. Caregiving and nurturing came naturally for Dell which afforded her the opportunity to work as a private childcare provider for families throughout Panola County. In doing so, she reared three children as her own, Michael Darby, Richie Darby, and Mandy Christopher.
In her free time, Dell enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling.
On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, Irma Dell Wright passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Bronson Wright (Kuayla) of Batesville, MS; two daughters, Barbara Wright of Memphis, TN, and Latanya Coleman (Patrick) of Batesville, MS; two adopted children, Tina Loveberry (Calvin) and Jonathan Wright; seven grandchildren; siblings, Willie Frank Wright, Jr. (Josephine), Robert Wright (Linda), James Wright, Elizabeth Blackburn, Oretha Wright, Annie Bell Wright all of Batesville, MS, and Cora Mays (Willie) of Independence, MS; two special friends, who she considered to be family, Mashaun Conner and Evelyn Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
