Izetta Barringer Obituary

Izetta made her advent into time on February 11, 1935 in Denmark, MS. She was the daughter of the late John Sherman Patton and Loma Victoria Boone.

Nurtured in a Christian home, Izetta acknowledged her need for salvation at an early age and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She joined Clear Creek Baptist Church and was baptized in a farmer’s pool. Izetta later joined Second Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her death.

She attended Denmark Public School and graduated with her diploma.

Izetta, affectionately called June, Ma-Noon, IZ, or Zet, began her life’s vocation as a community worker in the homes of many in Oxford, MS. She later gained employment with Emerson Electric, where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed baking, cooking, catering, sewing, attending the Heroin of Jericho meetings as well as Oxford Sewing Club, ODA Association and Golden Circle.

She united in holy matrimony to her life’s mate, John Barringer. She excelled in her roles as a wife to John and mother to their three children.

On Friday, September 3, 2021, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, Izetta transcended earthly bonds and set up homestead in a city that is older than Eden and a town that is taller than Rome.

Her beautiful life and giving spirit will be missed by many; however, the memories of unyielding devotion to her family will always be cherished by her loving and devoted children, grandchildren, and siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Herman (Vanessa) Patton and Herbert (Betty) Patton both of Oxford, MS; four grandchildren, Adriana Patton, Chris (Elizabeth) Patton, Brandon Hervey all of Oxford, MS and Lamar Pegues of Olive Branch, MS; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine Patton, Joshua Patton, Nyla Patton, Ava Patton all of Oxford, MS, and Faith Pegues of Memphis, TN; one brother, Sherman (Barbara) Patton of Detroit, MI; three sisters, Emma Perry and Georgia Bryant both of Oxford, MS and Lou Ella Perry of St. Louis, MO; an abundant multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Barringer, parents, siblings, Willie Boone, James L. Buford, Henry Buford, Josephine Vaughn, and Ethel Palmer.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
