James Edward Caldwell was born to the late Cordie Mae Murray on March 28, 1944, in Yalobusha County. He was the eldest of five children.
“Gig,” as he was affectionately called, loved to laugh and smile and he never me a stranger. He just enjoyed and loved life to the fullest. James professed his hope is Christ and was baptized earlier in the year of 2022.
James was an avid flower planter, loved being outside, and using his hands. He enjoyed landscaping, painting, and carpentry. Even though he didn’t have any children of his own, he played major role in the lives of his nieces and nephews. James also loved his extended family, Eric and Stephine Green.
On Thursday October 27, 2022, James departed this life peacefully at home and entered eternity.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three bothers: Hubert (Stella) Murray of Oxford, MS, William (Dollene) Murray both of Oxford, MS, Luster Murray; aunts, Edith Murray, Paulette Adams, Frances Adams, Louenia Willingham, Rosie Coleman, Annie White, Rena Quarles; uncles, Walter (Minnie) Horton, Johnnys Adams, Ricky Adams, James Murray, and J.C. Caldwell; he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents: James Caldwell and Cordie Mae Murray, his brother, Larry Murray.
