Mr. James Murray, son of the late John an Debora Morgan Murray, was born August 14, 1946 in the Mississippi delta. As a child, James was unable to receive much formal education but as a young man, he relocated to West Virginia where he enrolled in welding school and later became a welder by profession.
James loved fishing, gardening and he loved driving large machinery. He was a quiet gentle man. On Thursday, February 29, 2024, while in North Mississippi Medical Center, James made a peaceful transition. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
James is survived by his children: Robert Wortham of Taylor MS and Francis Wortham of Oxford MS; two sisters: Rosie Coleman of Oxford MS and Rena Quarles of Texas; four grandchildren: Joyce Lawrence, Joshua (Brittany) Dean, Chiquita Dean and Xavier Wortham; eight great grandchildren: Quintin Wortham, Lea Lawrence, Tatiania Lawrence, Layla Alston, Amari Randle, Arian Randle, August Randle and Ajaha Randle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents: John and Debora Murray; his wife: Ozella Murray; his siblings: William, Charles, Roy, Margaret, Cordie Mae, Irene, Annie Mae and Juanita.
Please keep the Murray family in your prayers.
