Mr. James Hulet Pegues, son of the Ada Mae Hill and the late Chester Pegues, was born February 27th, 1936, in Oxford, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age at Union Hill M. B. Church in Oxford, Mississippi where he remained a member.
James was united in matrimony to Eddie Lue Flemmons and they were the parents of six children. James was a wonderful man, he loved to talk and give advice, thereby earning him the nickname "The Lawyer." James loved listening to music, and was always joking and making people laugh. He helped people as much as he could, and he LOVED his grandchildren. By profession, James was a retired truck driver for the City of Oxford before retiring.
On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, while at Baptist Memorial Hospital/NM, James was summoned home by the Great Counselor. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife: Eddie Lue Pegues of Oxford MS; his children: Bobby (Karen) Pegues, Hulet Pegues. Glenn Pegues, Clara M. Pegues and Mary (Greg) Pettis, all of Oxford MS and James L. (Vangerl) Pegues of Troy NY; his mother: Ada Mae Archie of Racine WI; his brother: Edward (Betty) Archie of Racine WI, and his sister: Dora M. Pegues of Oxford MS; James also leaves a special grandson: Lamar Pegues and a host of other wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Willie Archie and W. C. Hill.
